Albert Jasareno – Western Australia
Albert has been actively engaged with the Read Write Now adult education program since initially connecting with the program to improve his English skills. After making rapid progress in his first months, Albert has since expanded his learning by proactively seeking tutoring in mathematics to support his future study plans.
Albert quickly developed a strong understanding of key punctuation and formatting conventions and, beyond developing these skills, Albert believes that writing has become a valuable tool for regulating his emotions and reinforcing what he learns from reading.
Albert is an outstanding adult learner because of his consistently positive attitude, natural brightness, and genuine commitment to personal growth. Rather than remaining fixed in old patterns, Albert deliberately chooses to keep developing. His openness, self-awareness and steady effort make him stand out.
Albert’s involvement has also strengthened his ability to retain and recall what he reads — something he previously found difficult. In addition, the program has significantly increased his self-esteem. Believing in himself has not always been easy, but the progress he has made has given him renewed confidence and a practical sense of agency over the direction of his life.
Albert’s goal is to complete a Certificate IV in Mental Health and work as a Peer Support Worker. Drawing on his own lived experience, he wants to help others who are facing similar challenges and who may benefit from someone who genuinely understands how they feel.
For Albert, achieving the Certificate IV is not only a professional step — it is also an important part of becoming the person he aspires to be: someone who lives a virtuous and purposeful life, and who draws happiness from within rather than continually seeking it from external sources.
