Hope in hospitality

Hackham West Community Centre is located in an area ranked in the top 3% of suburbs when it comes to disadvantage.

The Learning Changes Lives Foundation funded Hackham West's Perks of Coffee project to provide opportunities for adults with low literacy and numeracy, as well as those who are unemployed or underemployed in the hospitality industry.

Perks of Coffee teaches participants how to make good coffee, practice safe hygiene, interact with the public, manage money and follow instructions when working in a cafe. This project is all about building confidence, trusting relationships and work ready skills.
